Born in 1975 in Holland, he’s another designer from the Design Academy of Eindhoven. Bert is fascinated by materials and by the production process of the objects that he creates. Nevertheless, he never uses computers to “materialise” his objects.
Most of his works are the results of experiments executed on different kind of materials. His Random Light, presented at the Moooi collection of 2002, immediately became a best seller.
In cooperation with Marcel Wanders (Droog Design) and for the Moooi brand, he creates the Carbon Chair, a 100% coal-fibre chair and epoxy, totally handling pasted. With this oeuvre he won in 2005 the Elle Deco Awards prize “Best in Seating”.
